Pinterest Inspired

Have you ever been scrolling through Pinterest pinning outfit after outfit thinking, "I wish I had the money to look like that?"  Of course you have!

We've all been there - trying to make a dollar out of a penny.  It's hard.  But here's thing, it doesn't have to be.  You can get that same Pinterest look on a budget.  In fact, we're pretty convinced that you can even do it by shopping consignment.  We're gonna prove it to you now...

We found this look on Pinterest.  It's classic - a pair of traditional jeans coupled with a white t-shirt and tailored jacket, and then accented with some ever popular tangerine-colored jewelry, bag, and shoes.

To copy the Pinterest look on a budget, we headed to our Glasgow store location where we searched the racks for a pair of classic jeans, a white tee, and a tailored jacket.  Because those are pretty standard pieces in any wardrobe, it really wasn't an issue finding them.

Don't forget to search your closet too. You more than likely already have some of these basics, which means that you can spend more money on your accessories.

Speaking of accessories, we pulled this look together by topping it off with a tangerine colored necklace, bracelet and earrings.  Sometimes traditional type styles can seem a bit boring, but you can really add some extra flair with the right accessories such as bags, shoes, and jewelry.

That's right, we did all of this by shopping consignment.  How's that for stretching your dollar?

Why Brown Boots Rock

Ok. We've all heard about the importance of building a core wardrobe.  You know, those important staple pieces like some nice jeans, a black dress, basic tees, a few button downs, and a mix and match skirt or two.  Yeah, we'll talk more about that later....but for now...have you ever considered adding a brown boot to your core wardrobe?

Stay with us here because we are convinced that a simple pair of brown boots can help give you a variety of looks.  That's right, one purchase can completely makeover your wardrobe. Let's explore...

So you need to run some errands on a Saturday morning.  You want to look posh, but aren't really feeling it after your Friday night fun.  No worries.  Start with some leggings and a button down shirt. They're comfy and super cute...especially when you pair them with boots and a scarf.  Of course the over-sized sunglasses will add some appeal to the look and if you keep them on you can skip the makeup...yay! And the boots...they are causal and help dress up your look.

You can use the same boots (these are different but you get the point) if you're headed out to do some shopping or meet up with friends.  Paired with some skinny jeans, a basic tee and a cardigan, brown boots are practical, comfortable, and help add some flair to a very basic look.

We've all got "that outfit,"  You know the one I'm talking about.  The one you started planning back in July.  The one that you've pictured yourself wearing as you stroll through the orchard or sip on your pumpkin spice latte.  Yeah, that outfit probably included some brown boots...and why not?  They're perfect for clomping around a pumpkin patch, and still super cute with your pearls and vest.

Still not convinced that you need to invest a pair of brown boots?  We bet this helps.  In addition to wearing them with leggings for a casual look, or jeans for a more chic look, you can also pair those boots with basic black dress for an entirely new look.  Who would have that that the same pair of boots could give this more dressy outfit, a fun twist.

See you can dress them up, or dress them down or make them practical when you have to walk in a mall or clomp through a field.  Whatever your personal taste in clothing, one this is for certain, a pair of brown boots could certainly spruce up  your fall wardrobe.

A Public Service Announcement

Ok ladies.  We know you like to shop, and nothing is better than shopping and saving money.  So why not combine the two this weekend with our Dollar Sale.  That's right, we've got all kinds of fashions for a buck!  That's this Friday and Saturday, so be sure to stop by for some amazing savings!!

Also, if you are Twitter (and you should be) be sure to follow us.  We're giving away a $25 gift card to one of our followers.  Oh, and be sure to tell your friends...they might want to win one too!!

Accessories

Let's talk about accessories because, really, they can make or break an outfit.  So, you don't have the money to buy a whole new wardrobe...no worries!  A little creativity can go a long way.  To prove our point, we give you Exhibit A.

The Simple Black Dress.  If you're like us, you have at least one of these in your closet if not multiple.  In either case, a little black dress can be...well, boring.  However,  you can really make it pop with the right accessories. Just look at our "after" picture.

A statement necklace and some earnings really transform this look.  Also notice the shoes.  By changing the the shoes, you change your entire look.  With the black pumps you're ready for a day at the office.  Change into the boots for a night on the town.  And of course, red flats would be great for a comfortable day of shopping or even tailgating.

Homecoming

Homecoming...oh, the memories!  Like football season, homecoming just goes hand and hand with fall.  We love it!  In fact, we love it so much that we have an entire selection of dresses perfect for you.  We'll show you some of our favorites tomorrow, but first we wanted to show you a few things you will NOT find in our store.   These are courtesy of Awkward Family Photos. Go ahead and ignore all the guys.  We don't even have time to address them.

Layered dresses are hot.  Lace dresses are timeless, and pink goes with everything.  However, the combo of the three is a little overwhelming in this picture.  Don't you agree?

Green is a popular color this year, and shorter dresses are all the rage when it comes to Homecoming, but I think we can come up with something a little more contemporary than this 80's awkwardness.  Let's not even address the shoes...okay?

Lose the sleeves, need we say more?

Okay, forget the hair.  Overlook the dude's boots and focus on the dress.  It's longer than the others, but still fun for homecoming.  That's about all it has going for it, but the good news is that tomorrow where gonna revamp these looks with a much more modern flair!

Be sure to check back!

A Lucky Day If You Ask Us

Friday The Thirteenth kinda seems like a weird day to start a blog, but hey, why not?  There's so much going on this time of year that we just couldn't help ourselves.

Summer is over and we're trading those shorts and tanks for jeans and sweaters.  It's the perfect time to start thinking about revamping your wardrobe.  Whether you'll be adding a few accessories like scarves, boots, and statement jewelry, or if you're needing a whole new look entirely, it can be done on a budget.

In fact, around here we're convinced that you can have a Pinterest worthy closet even if you are short on cash. That's why we've started this site - to prove that fashion doesn't have to take a lot of money.  With an open mind, some creativity, and little flexibility, you can recreate anything   So we hope you'll keep us in mind when you need a "wardrobe pick-me up."

This is our little corner of the internet, but we'd love to hear from you too, so be sure to follow us on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

You can also shop at one of our two Southern Kentucky store locations.

Here's to a fabulously fun and fashionable fall!
