Celebrity Prom: Halle Berry

It's time for celebrity prom pictures again!  Can you guess who this little beauty is?

If you guessed Halle Berry, you would be right!  This picture was taken around 1989 (ish) when she attended Bedford High School in Ohio. The gown styles may have changed a bit, but the classic beauty of this American icon, has stayed!

Waiting On Spring

It's snowing...again...on March 25th.  Ugh!  That's just not fair.  It should feel like spring, but it doesn't, so we're gonna dream of warmer days and sunshine!

We're very fond of the coral/teal combinations that we're seeing pop up everywhere...expect for nature...nature is a little behind.

Anyway,  we love this coral sun dress paired with a necklace and over-sized bag.  For a more casual look, we think this short outfit combination of a white, lace top, pink bottoms, and a chunky teal necklace is perfect for a spring outing.

Now, if Mother Nature would just get the memo!

Celebrity Prom

It's finally Friday!! Of course this means two days with no alarm clocks, no deadlines, no bosses. It also means that it's time to show you a celebrity prom picture.

We're not sure about the first two, the the gorgeous blonde on the right is none other than... Christina Aguilera.  She was bold even back then with a satin red gown. You gotta love a girl who knows what she wants.  After all, she did launch her career with the hit song, "What A Girl Wants."

Wedding Wednesday

Today's Wedding Wednesday is going to be short and sweet like this little dress.

We think this would be perfect for a destination wedding or maybe even a second marriage.  It's simple, and classy, and could be worn again and again.  All would would have to do is change the satin ribbon belt to another color, and you could go anywhere.

On a different note, if you're looking to accessorize your gown with the perfect 1920's inspired headpiece, stop by and see us.  We have a great variety to from, and lots of veils too!

Celebrity Prom: Fergie

We're doing our part to help ease the Monday Blues and thought you might enjoy a good laugh.  It's our celebrity prom picture, and this one isn't really to funny...it's more of a blast from the past.

Here's Fergie at her high school from in 1993.  It sure looks like she was having some fun.  We always wonder what their classmates think when they look back on their yearbooks with a famous face. Did they have any hints that they were among the "next big thing?"

Happy Monday, ya'll!

Pinterest Spring Looks: One Dress Three Ways

We don't know about ya'll, but we're ready for spring which means that we've been stalking Pinterest to find some fun fashions that are budget friendly.  One of the things we noticed is the popularity of white dresses.  They are so versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on accessories.

We started with this basic, white cotton dress.

We found this inspiration on Pinterest.  It's a white dress paired with a blue cardigan and a brown belt.

So, we found a brown belt and blue cardigan. Wouldn't this be perfect for a summer concert or a date night?

Then we fell in love with the denim jacket over the dress.  Lucky for us, we had one in the store and...TADA...it's another example of a great spring look.

Be sure to stop by our Glasgow location as you start updating your spring wardrobe.  We have a great selection of new and gently used items!

Wedding Wednesday

With all the fuss over prom these days, we would be doing our brides a disservice if we didn't talk about weddings at least one day a week.

We know this is the biggest day of your life, so we are proud to offer you literally hundreds of dress options.  We have every color - from white and ivory to cream and candlelight.  We have ballgowns, mermaids gowns, A-line dresses.

We have dresses with long sleeves, short sleeves and no sleeves.  We've also got sweetheart  tops, strapless tops, and v-necks tops.

We haven't forgotten the bridal party either.  We have a fabulous selection of Mother Of The Bride gowns, bridesmaids dresses and flower girl looks.  We even rent tuxedos.  Plus we have veils, shoes, and jewelry.

You should stop by and see us.  We take great pride in helping make dreams a reality.

Oscar Copy Looks

If you follow us on Instagram you saw these dresses last week, but we're just now getting around to posting them on here.  As with every good awards show, we like to show you copy cats looks that are equally as stylish but insanely more budget friendly.

Take, for example, this Navy Blue dress worn by Sandra Bullock.  It's timeless, and because of its simplicity it is easily duplicated.  We simply found a dark colored (in this case black) dress with a sweetheart neckline.

We stayed with the simple A-line skirt and fitted waist.  Our dress has a little more lace than Sandra's, but the overall effect is the same...and for under $300!!

We saved you even more money than that with our Jessica Biel copy look.  Again, the eloquence and simplicity of the designs this year made them easy to re-create.  Jessica's dress is a white laced gown with a traditional strapless top.

It was pretty easy to find this knock off for only $75!!!  Plus it could be a pageant, prom, or even a wedding dress.  How's that for saving money?!?!

Celebrity Prom: Jessica Alba

Our Bowling Green location will be open on Sundays in an effort to accommodate those of you shopping for prom (or anything for that matter.) So in the spirit of Prom, we thought it would be a good day to show you one of our favorite celebrities.

Here we have Jessica Alba.  Her gown with a velvet top, tulle skirt, and 3D flowers may be as outdated as the babies breath halo in her hair, but goodness, that smile will never go out of style. He's America's Sweetheart!

Spring Forward

In honor of time changing this weekend and the promise of spring, we thought we would "spring forward" and look at some fashions for the new season. We are always showing you gowns from our Bowling Green store, but today's a great day to highlight some new arrivals at our Glasgow location.

We love this pink skirt.  With a pair of heels and a cardigan it's perfect for a day in the office, but change into some flats, add a jean jacket and you're ready for casual spring day.  Oh yeah, don't forget to add the accessories like the oversized bag and chunky necklace.

It's about time to pull out the white pants!  Because they're so neutral, you can wear them with just about anything.  We happen to like the idea of blue and green like this tank you see here. Again, dress it up or down depending on your need.  We're sure to have the shews, jewelry, and bags needed to pull of whatever look you're going for.

Ya'll know we love us some leopard print. Ha! It's easy to take make it feel "spring-y" by adding a pop of color like the coral.  Just accessorize with sweaters, belts, shoes, or bags.  Oh yeah, add some dressy khakis or a nice pair of trousers and this look could be worn in the office.  It's like two outfits in one.

Since we're in the mood to save you some money, let's talk about this red tank.  Pictured above, it is the perfect compliment to a casual pair of shorts.  You could wear it all summer long with flip-flops, tennis shoes, or even boots.  You could take that same red tank and put it with a skirt and black cardigan for a dressier event.  You could also wear it under a business suit at the office. See, one piece of clothing re-purposed three ways.  You just have to get creative.

The Oscars

We all know the best part of an awards show is the gowns!  Let's face it, if you're like us, you probably haven't even seen half of the movies nominated, and you could care less about the winner.  It's all about the glamour, the pageantry and the show.  Of course, part of that show is walking the red carpet, and our eyes were on this year's fashions.

Let's start with Kentucky girl, Jennifer Lawrence.  She was stunning in his classic gown.  No sequins, no train, no slit, just pure eloquence.  She is proof that sometimes less is more.  Oh, and you need not worry about showing personality, we think the bold, red color did just the trick.  It's fun, sassy, and playful just like our favorite leading lady!

Wow. Wow. WOW!!  We thought Lupita Nyong'o was outstanding in this pleated white gown.  The plunging neckline was sexy without being risque.  The layers of flowing chiffon and the train further appeal to that vintage Hollywood glamour that is so timeless.  Twenty years from now, this will still be stunning.  By the way, of you're looking for inspiration for a destination wedding, this might just be your starting point.

We couldn't decide which gown to highlight here because Sandra Bullock and Amy Adams were dressed so similarly.  We finally decided that since we had already shown you on star from American Hustle (Jennifer Lawrence) we would mix it up with this "Gravity" star.  Again, classy, simple, modest, clean lines.  We love the sweetheart neckline, the train, the color.  Is navy the new black?  We'll have to wait and see, but this would make a perfect pageant gown...would it not?

Last but not least, Momma Kate was sizzling in this.  Like Lupita Nyong'o's gown, this too has a plunging neckline.  However, rather the flowing layers of chiffon, this gown is hip hugging and beaded.  It's sexy meets classy, and we are just crazy over the dramatic cape.

So...who were you're winners for best dressed?

Some Mid-Week Thoughts

1. Ya'll,  this "eternal winter" has got to end...seriously!!  Time changes this coming weekend and spring is right around the corner, so let's just all breathe and try to make it through this cold snap.

2. We've been closed the past few days thanks to all this snow, but we're going to open both locations TODAY at noon.

3. Since most of you are out of school, we think it would be the perfect way to cure cabin fever and get in a little extra prom shopping.

4. Along those same lines, if you're using the extra time at home to clean out your closet, don't forget that you can make some extra cash by consigning your clothes.  We're now accepting Spring/Summer items.

5. Okay, this is late, but did watch the Academy Awards?  Those gowns were spectacular!!  Don't worry, that deserves a whole post of its own and maybe even a few inspired dresses.  Tune in tomorrow and Friday for that.

We're Seeing Spots

No doubt about it, animal print is hot!  We happen to be crazy over leopard print, and we're seeing spots with all of these new arrivals.

If you're looking for a fresh twist on the print, try it in a color.  For example, this blue formal is just plain fun.  The cutout at the chest adds a little "ooh la la" without revealing too much skin.  And would you take a look at that back...breath taking!!!

If you're not quite brave enough to go with a colored leopard print, try accenting the traditional pattern with a bright color.  We've seen it in blue, orange, and green, but we're wild about the pink in the dress you see above.  It adds a youthful touch to a traditional print.

If you're still scared of color, you can always stick with the traditional hues in the leopard print fabric.  However, don't be afraid to spice it up a little.  In this gown, strategic cut outs add some variety, and again...make a statement when you walk away with a sexy back!!

These are just a few of our animal print gowns.  We also offer those day - to- day clothing items like shirts, sweaters, shoes, scarves, bags and jewelry , so be sure to spot by and see us.  You'll be seeing spots before you know it!

Celebrity Prom: Jennifer Aniston

It's time for another celebrity prom picture!  Can you guess who this lovely lady is?  She hasn't aged much, but her hair has certainly improved!

That's right, before she starred in "Friends," before "Along Came Polly, " before all her blockbuster hits, this was California native, Jennifer Aniston.  As you can tell, she's always been a class act.

Do you ever wonder whatever happens to these dates?  Poor fellow, he'll always be known as Jennifer Aniston's date to the prom.  Then again, he may be famous in his own right. The world may never know!

The Vintage Bride: you may choose to wear a gown handed down from mom or grandma, or you may go with a new gown with vintage flair.  Either way, you're probably a hopeless romantic.  Your day will read like a Jane Austin novel and will be accented in dreamy flowers and endless lace!
