It's hard to believe that Prom season is here. Actually, Prom is still months away, but a girl's gotta plan, right? We know how this goes. You start thumbing through magazines, stalking celebrity gossip sites, and of course, pinning away on Pinterest. We want to help. We want to show you how you can copy any look, even if you're on a budget.
That's why we watched the Golden Globes this past Sunday...for inspiration. Early we showed you how to pull of a Taylor Swift look, and today we've got Zooey Deschanel. Above you see her in a timeless, red gown. The sweet hart neckline is popular this year, which only adds to the vintage glamour we are seeing so much. From there you'll notice the fitted bodice and the soft flow of an A-line skirt. It is so dreamy.
One of the things we love about the traditional styles is that they won't "date" your photos. Face it, one look at puffy sleeves and it's a dead give-a-way that we're talking 1980's Prom. With this year's timeless elegance, it will be much more difficult to pinpoint a decade...and that's a good thing.
So, on to our copy dress. Its a Maggie Sottero size 14, and retails for $250. Like Zooey's inpsiration gown, the "statement" isn't a slit in the front, a plunging neckline or a scandalously short skirt. The "statement" is the color. It's bold, it's elegant, it fun. Also similar to our inspiration photo is the sweet heart neckline. Again, it's timeless. We varied a bit from A-Line skirt and went with what is known as a "mermaid" cut.
Yes, this is much more form fitting, but it's still a modest and elegant. We hope you'll stop by our Bowling Green store to find out more about how to get your dream look on any budget.
