Halloween: Kids Costumes
Yesterday we showed you some of our favorite homemade adult costumes, so we thought we would find some cute ideas for the kiddos too. Of course Pinterest gave us some great ideas, and we're excited to share them with you now.
What little girl doesn't want to be a Disney Princess? Yes, it's true - you could run to the store and buy one off the shelf. You could also get creative. Tulle is a super cheap fabric and doesn't have to be hemmed which makes it "no sew." We can handle that.
Maybe your little lady would rather play the Disney villain. That's fine. We think this costume is precious. May we suggest that you skip the 101 Dalmatian pups. All you need is a black dress, a leopard print sweater, some pearl jewelry, and red shoes. Add a little face paint and a Dollar Store wig, and you've got the sweetest monster we've ever seen.
In keeping with the Disney theme, we love this costume inspired by the movie "Up." You're little guy more than likely already has a button down and khakis in the closet. Add a blue pullover sweater, a yellow bow-tie, and some cheap glasses, and you've got the makings of a great Halloween outfit. To top it off, make a walker out of PVC pipes and tie on some balloons. This is so cute, and really isn't all that expensive.
Ok, this one isn't Disney inspired, but we couldn't help ourselves. This is the cutest thing we've seen. Dig through all those random bags you've been keeping and find an Abercrombie and Fitch one. Cut some arm holes and you're in business. Just look at this little model.
Hope you enjoyed these kiddos and their parents' creativity as much as we have. However, if you're a slacker, we've got your back. Stop by our store for a great selection of PRE-made costumes at a great price.
Happy Halloween (Eve)!!

Halloween Week: Woman Ideas
With Halloween upon us, it's hard to come up with costume ideas when everything you can buy is the size of a napkin. So, if you're wanting more fabric you have to get creative. Luckily, we have Pinterest these days and here are some of our favorites.
Rosie The Riveter is not only an inspiration to women; she's also an admirable Halloween costume idea. Let's face it, "she" isn't real. She's product of creativity and she can show off yours. All you need is a dark colored button down shirt, a red bandanna and a rockin' pose.
We're convinced that you can't go wrong with Starbucks. Not only does it go perfectly with nearly every outfit, it can be a great Halloween costume. A coffee colored dress, a boa, and printed logo, make this a simple and tasteful idea.
Want something a little more original? Try this Bubble Gum Machine. All you need is a tee shirt and skirt. Add a Pyrex bowl full of gumballs, and you're good to go. We just don't recommend sporting this around kids. It may be modest, but chances are they'll worry you to death for some candy.
If you need a couple's outfit, this is perfect, A red and blue tee shirt with some fabric paint can go a long way. Just add some cheap accessories and frame your face with a cardboard box cutout. Add a cheat print off with the GUESSWHO logo and your name.
See, Halloween costumes don't have to be scandalous. With a little creativity you can save a lot a money and not have to worry about modesty.

Halloween Week: Black And Orange
Halloween week is here, and chances are you've spent a lot of time coming up with the perfect costume. However, we don't want you to forget that you can look festive all week long. All you need is some black and orange clothing, shoes, or accessories, and of course, some creativity.
Perhaps you have something in your closet that is already black and orange. If so, play it up. Add those pumps you've been wanting to wear and maybe even that orange purse you put away with the summer clothes. This week, it's fine to bring it out again.
In keeping with the seasonal idea, pull out that summer dress. Of course we want you to be warm, but as long as you add a sweater and some reasonably warm shoes, you should be good to go! In this case, a black cardigan is perfect for the season, and you more than likely have one sitting around. Don't worry about the orange shoes if you don't have a pair because black pumps or flats would also work.
We love this idea if you're looking for something casual. It's a perfect example of how accessories come into play. Who doesn't already own a pair of jeans and a black shirt? Couple it with some orange jewelry, a festive scarf, and a colorful bag. Again black shoes would be fine, but don't be afraid to add some color if you have any at home.
Don't forget the outerwear this Halloween. Even if you aren't dressing up for the holiday, you can still be festive (and practical) as you're out and about. This outfit is the perfect combination of black and orange. From the colors to the jewelry and accessories to the coat (which is what we want to focus on.) If you have an orange coat...wear it! If not, a black jacket and some orange add ons like gloves, scarves, and a hat, would be the perfect combination for trick or treating.

Great Gatsby - Copy Cat Look
We thought we would have a little fun today copying a Great Gatsby look for you. We're seeing lots of 1920's themed parties this year from Homecoming Dances and Sorority Mixers to Charity Balls and Fundraising Formals. So, we decided to show you how to create a Gatsby formal look on a budget.
Our inspiration above is the black, flapper style dress. You'll notice that it is form fitting in the top with an elongated waist line, and of course, a flowing bottom. The long beads really set it off and give it that romantic look so iconic to the 1920s.
In all honesty, it was pretty easy to copy the look. This classic, black dress was perfect for the job with it's form fitting lines, plunged neckline and flared skirt. Alone the dress is close to the look we were going for, but it wasn't quite hitting the mark, so we added a long and layered necklace. It really pulls it all together.
You really can get a Hollywood look on a budget is you use a little creativity.

Great Gatsby - The Men
Ok ladies, we've given you all a lot of attention on the blog and rightly so considering we write about woman's fashions, but let's talk about men today and enjoy some eye candy.
We're not talking Magic Mike or Fifty Shades of Grey. Goodness, it's Great Gatsby week around here. You remember don't you? The film set in the 1920's a full of romantic, glamorous, styles that are trickling into our every day fashions.
Anyway, we want to introduce you to the world of men's fashion. You're guy might not want to go Tuxedo shopping, and he probably would flip out if you mentioned to him that you want him to dress like Leonardo DiCaprio.
The good news is, that by sticking with classic looks, a tailored suite, a nice bow-tie or neck tie, and maybe a new pair of shoes - your man could walk away looking like a 1920's dream.

Great Gatsby - Accessories
One of our favorite things about the Great Gatsby and the 1920's in general is the accessories. They're glamorous, dreamy, romantic, and classy all at the same time. Oh, and there are beads galore! We love them!!
Iconic to the era are headbands. They can be worn in long or short hair. They can compliment any outfit , and they come in a variety of styles and colors. It's sort of a vintage Hollywood look, so don't be afraid to give it a try. It might seem unnatural at first, but they're super stylish and lots of fun too!
Then there are shoes. One word...high heels!! They can be stilettos accentuated in beads or a simple pair of pumps with a large buckle. Either way, they should be feminine, classic, and hopefully somewhat comfortable!

Great Gatsby Style
As promised we're back with looks inspired by the Great Gatsby. Chances are that if you've been formal or accessory shopping at all this season, you've noticed some dreamy, romantic, and fun fashions inspired by the 1920's.
Gatsby dresses are all about fun and flair with a touch of sophistication and elegance. They are both long and short, but always fitted and embellished with lots a sparkle from beads to sequence and even some lace. Ladies in the 1920s were more worried about showing off their clothes than their bodies, so cuts tend to be modest.
A-Line dresses with dropped waists really helped define the look. However, dresses like the one you see above were also popular. They accentuated the waist and created an hour glass look. Plus, they were flowing in the bottom which made them ideal for bottom heavy ladies.
Great Gatsby inspired dresses will be hot this season and who could resist the charm and glamour of the 1920's.

Gatsby Week
Who didn't love the Blockbuster hit, The Great Gatsby? It's okay, you can admit that you didn't read the book. We won't judge - after all, the book didn't have amazing costumes to enjoy!
Anyway, if you saw the film you were no doubt dazzled by the fabulous styles from the 1920's, and chances are you've noticed some modern day fashions influenced by the era.
We're going to show you some of our favorite Gatsby looks this week. From flapper dresses and formals to shoes and jewelry. Even the guys are going to get some time in the spotlight. Be sure to check back every day for a fabulous post with a Great Gatsby theme.

Pinerest Inspired
Ok ladies, all week we've shown you our favorite leopard print finds. Today we're getting down to business and showing you how you can pull together a Pinterest inspired look on a budget.
Our inspiration outfit couples a leopard print top with a classic pair of jeans and some neutral colored accessories.
Chances are you have either a black or khaki pair a trousers to start with. Keep in mind you can also use a nice denim too. From there look for a leopard print shirt. Be sure to find something that is classic in lines and fits well. Remember what we talked about yesterday...you don't want to send out the wrong message.
Once you have your base outfit ready, add accessories. Again, these should be minimal since the shirt will be the "statement piece." We added a black necklace with some gold embellishments.
Finally, a classy, nuetral show will pull it all together. Black or brown will work...just make sure they are too over the top.

Leopard Print Clothing
Yesterday we showed you how to accessorize your favorite outfit with a touch of leopard print on the side, but what happens when you want to wear this popular print as the main piece of clothing? You certainly don't want to end up on "What Not To Wear," or make little kids think you're dressed up for Halloween.
We know if can be a fine and sometimes scary line, so we've got some tips for you animal print lovers.
Tip One: Keep it classy. Don't buy cheap fabric because you don't want to look..well, cheap! Keep in mind that classic cuts and styles are best coupled with an animal print. Neutral colors work best as a base. In this case bright pants or shoes would be borderline "Pretty Woman" and that's not what we want.
Tip Two: Don't Go Over Board. You can really start to look like a mutilated animal if you wear too much of one print. Keep the accessories simple. In this case, the shoes, bags, and pants are simple and clean. They let shirt makes the statement.
Tip Three: Dress It Up. By nature leopard print is dressy, especially when it's worm properly. If you're looking for an understated elegance with flair, try an dress in animal print. Again, simple and classy is key. It the dress it too tight or to low cut, you might send out the wrong message. Finally, notice the neutral colored shoes and the minimal accessoires.
Tip Four: Try Something New. You don't have to limit leopard prints to a few shirts and accessories. Show you personality by adding the print to your outerwear. Just don't forget to make sure you invest in a good fabric and accessorize accordingly.
Follow these simple tips and you'll avoid looking like this in your favorite animal print. Ha!!

Leopard Print Accessories
We happen to love leopard print around here, so we're always looking for new ways to incorporate it into our wardrobe. Of course, Pinterest is a great source of inspiration and that's where we found the looks you'll see below.
First we found this traditional, yet causal, look. You can use a neutral color like brown to pair with your favorite leopard accessories. In this case, shoes and a statement bag help pull the outfit together.
Don't forget that you can also dress up leopard print accessories. Here we are sticking with the neutral base color, but going with a dress rather than jeans. We're also using a printed bag and shoe - only a bit more formal than the last picture.
Now, don't get tricked into thinking that the only time you can use leopard accessories is with a neutral. As you can see in the outfit above, this animal print can become the neutral. The corals are the focus of this look, but the leopard clutch completes it.
Be sure to check back tomorrow when we show you how to wear leopard print clothing rather than just making it an accessory.

Shoes
Let's face it, we ladies love shoes. There's something almost therapeutic about shopping for them. You don't have to worry about hiding the chub, looking skinny, or accentuating the positive. When it comes to shoes, anything goes. It's doesn't matter what size you wear or how you look. What matters is completing an outfit and showing off your personality. Take a look at some of our favorite designs..
If you're a trendy girl, you may be into the boot crazy. Not only are they stylish, they're also classy and practical, and these days your options are limitless. You can buy them with flats or heels, brown, black, or any other color under the sun. They come in ankle length, calf length or even knee length. You can pair them with leggings, jeans or dresses. We say go for the boots!
If you're a girlie girl chances are you love a little bling, and even though sparkle isn't always the most practical look for every day wear, it's still fun. Chances are you have the perfect black dress or "girls night out" outfit to pair with some great shoes. And why not? Let your colors burst. Sparkly shoes are just another way to shine.
A lot of you ladies sport a more tailored style. Maybe it's because of your work attire or it's what Momma said was proper, whatever the case, we're convinced that you can't go wrong with a classic black pump. Don't worry about skimping on style, there are plenty of options when it comes to heels. You are certain to find a black pump that showcases your personality. Might we suggest splurging a little? You want to be comfortable after all.
High heels not your thing? That's ok. Flats are almost as popular as boots these days. That means you can be comfortable and stylish. Like boots, flats come in just about any color, print and style you can imagine. What's even better... they can worn with jeans, leggings, trousers, skirts and even dresses. What could be better than being comfortable and in style? Let us answer...not much.
Last, but certainly not least, don't forget to have some practical shoes in your closet. Chances are, your every day errands like grocery shopping require some comfort, but you don't have to forfeit style. Shoes like you see above are popular and practical. Don't feel guilty investing in a good pair.
