We thought we would have a little fun today copying a Great Gatsby look for you. We're seeing lots of 1920's themed parties this year from Homecoming Dances and Sorority Mixers to Charity Balls and Fundraising Formals. So, we decided to show you how to create a Gatsby formal look on a budget.
Our inspiration above is the black, flapper style dress. You'll notice that it is form fitting in the top with an elongated waist line, and of course, a flowing bottom. The long beads really set it off and give it that romantic look so iconic to the 1920s.
In all honesty, it was pretty easy to copy the look. This classic, black dress was perfect for the job with it's form fitting lines, plunged neckline and flared skirt. Alone the dress is close to the look we were going for, but it wasn't quite hitting the mark, so we added a long and layered necklace. It really pulls it all together.
You really can get a Hollywood look on a budget is you use a little creativity.
